Autism Community Network Offers BCBA/BCaBA Supervision

Autism Community Network is pleased to offer BCBA/BCaBA supervision by our experienced doctoral and master level BCBA-D/BCBAs. Guidelines and Requirements for BCBA/BCaBA Supervision Hours
(Based on BACB Standards)

  • Applicants may not start accumulating experience until they have begun the coursework required to meet the BACB coursework requirements.
  • Supervisees must accumulate a minimum of 10 hours per week but no more than 30 hours per week for a minimum of 3 weeks per month of supervised independent fieldwork hours.
  • For hours counting towards BCBA/BCaBA supervised experience, supervisees need to be engaged in activities whose primary focus is on learning new behavior analytic skills related to the BACB Third Edition Task List.
  • Supervisees must work with multiple clients during the experience period.
  • Students will be supervised at least once every 2 weeks for 5% of their total supervised independent fieldwork hours.
  • No more than half of the total supervised hours will be provided in a small group of 10 or fewer participants. The other remaining half or more of supervised hours will consist of direct one-to-one contact

Supervision hours by ACN will include:

  • Phone conferencing
  • Review and discussion of data collection and data analysis
  • Review and feedback regarding program development
  • Discussion of research
  • Observation and feedback: In-person, via Skype, and/or via video review

Full Supervision Options —

The options below provide the 75 hours of supervision required by the BACB to take the BCBA certification exam.

1 Year Plan

  • Supervised Independent Field Work Hours Per Week: 28-30
  • Number of Hours Biweekly Supervised by ACN’s BCBA-D/BCBA’s: 2 (average)
  • Cost: $5,625 ($75/hr); 4 payments of $1,406.25; Monthly payments of $468.75

18 Month Plan

  • Supervised Independent Field Work Hours Per Week: 10-30 (average of 20; total 1500)
  • Number of Hours Biweekly Supervised by ACN’s BCBA-D/BCBA’s: 2 (average)
  • Cost: $5,625 ($75/hr); 4 payments of $1,406.25; Monthly payments of $468.75

2 Year Plan

  • Supervised Independent Field Work Hours Per Week: 14-15
  • Number of Hours Biweekly Supervised by ACN’s BCBA-D/BCBA’s: 1.5 (average)
  • Cost: $5,625 ($75/hr); 4 payments of $1,406.25; Monthly payments of $468.75

Partial Supervision Options —

The option below provide 37.5 hours of supervision, which is half of the supervision hours required by the BACB to take the BCBA certification exam.

1 Year Plan

  • Supervised Independent Field Work Hours Per Week: 14-15 (total 750)
  • Number of Hours Biweekly Supervised by ACN’s BCBA-D/BCBA’s: 1.5 (average)
  • Cost: $3,187.50 ($85/hr); 4 payments of $796.88; Monthly payments of $265.65

Supervision Staff

Dr. Berenice de la Cruz, Ph.D., BCBA-D
Dr. de la Cruz is the Director of Training and Research at Autism Community Network. She received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in Special Education specializing in autism and developmental disabilities. For her dissertation, she developed a self-monitoring treatment package to support teachers in developing and implementing interventions in the classroom. Dr. de la Cruz received her Master‚ in Clinical Psychology at University of Texas at El Paso, where she researched animal models of autism. She has worked with people with autism and other developmental disabilities for 10 years in school and home settings as a teacher, therapist, and trainer for parents of people with autism and professionals servicing people with autism. Dr. de la Cruz has published several peer-reviewed research articles and co-authored several book chapters in the fields of developmental disabilities, addictive behaviors, and social cognition.
